Interaction & Project planning Conception of Digital Exhibition Offer

In spring 2015, the Universum Science Center opened its doors to the newly designed permanent exhibition. The renovation took a good five months. We were responsible for the planning and design of a total of 22 stations and supported the Science Center in advance with project planning and tender preparation.

Integration of Media Offerings In-depth Zones & Media Lounges

"Man Nature Technology" is the name of the new permanent exhibition that is intended to bring about a turnaround for the Universum, which has recently suffered from declining visitor numbers. And in fact, a lot has changed inside the "whale". At first glance, the Universum appears more open, inviting and structured. Each of the three major thematic areas has its own floor in its own color scheme.

Despite all the innovations, the Universum remains a "classic" science center with a declared focus on dealing with scientific phenomena. There are a total of 250 new exhibits to explore there, along with just as many tried-and-tested highlights such as the "earthquake sofa."

One innovation that we were able to contribute to in terms of planning and conception are the so-called in-depth zones and media lounges in the center of the science center. Here, exciting experiments can be carried out on digital exhibits.

Consulting and tender preparation Concepts & Storyboards

We provided the interaction concepts and detailed storyboards for a total of 22 interactive stations. These include tests from the area of perception, such as memory and the recognition of changes or for determining individual hearing performance. You can also try lip reading or explore your own empathy in a video experiment. The computer-aided experiments illustrate astonishing phenomena in a playful way. For example, creating a digital "mirror face" from the left and right halves of the face illustrates the natural asymmetry of the human face.

In addition to many entertaining stations for individual users, some of the stations are more focused on dialogue and collaboration. For example, visitors can "interrogate" each other on a digital lie detector or learn about the qualitative aspects of group and individual decisions on a virtual moon mission. Overall, the ensemble offers a comprehensive insight into human sensory performance.
